APB Parents,

It’s with great sadness that we are officially cancelling the Spring 2020 baseball season. As you know, the APB Board has been working with and monitoring the state and local guidance regarding COVID-19 in the hopes we’d get to resume and finish our spring season. As the state and county organizations do not provide any indication of addressing youth sports any time soon, it is time to make the decision to cancel the Spring 2020 baseball season and look ahead to the Fall Ball season. This decision does not come lightly and we have been in close consultation with many of our neighboring leagues (including Newbury Park, Westlake and Simi Valley) who are doing the same.

Refunds, Donations, Credits….


As you know, APB is a non-profit organization and reinvests all funds back into the league. We rely on registration fees to help cover our annual operating expenses, but they do not cover all of them. Due to COVID-19 we were unable to have any of our annual fundraisers (such the snack shack sales, our annual Las Virgenes Tournament and Dodger Day) to help make up the difference. Before the first pitch was thrown out on opening day, over 90% of the league expenses were incurred including purchasing personalized uniforms, baseballs, field permits/lease, insurance, full-time field maintenance, PONY dues and other administrative costs, etc. That said, we will be offering the following options:

- a $50 Refund, or;
- a $70 Credit Spring 2021, or;
- a $50 Donation 501(c)(3) back to the league.

Please respond to this email ([email protected]) with the option you want by email response to this email by Friday, June 26. If no option is selected, then we will consider it a donation back to the league. Sorry, no exceptions after that date as we must close the books on our 2019/2020 fiscal year on June 29.   Also, all uniformed coaches and managers (except Shetland which we don't collect a volunteer deposit) will have their $75 volunteer deposit returned.

Housekeeping

- BANNER SPONSORS - We will be extending spring 2020 banner sponsorships through the 2021 Spring season at no charge.
- FALL BALL - Fall Ball registration will open in mid-July but we will not be requesting or accepting payment until we have been cleared to play a fall ball season.
- SUMMER SANDLOT - If we get clearance to open our fields prior to Fall Ball, then we want to make the fields available to Spring 2020 registered players for practices, pick-up games, or a Summer Sandlot league. More information will be provided should we get approval to open this Summer. Until then however, our Lupin facility remains closed to everyone.
- EQUIPMENT RETURN - Look for future emails from the league concerning equipment return (from Spring), Fall Ball tryouts and more.
