Agoura Bronco A All-Star team had contributions from everyone to win the Regional Championship at Simi Valley on July 12. Having been first runner-up at Newberry Park in the District Tournament Agoura moved on to the Sectional at West Hills where they were once again 1st runner up having beaten a strong team from Bakersfield, 15-0, in the semifinals and losing to West Hills in the championship game. The team moved into the Regionals. Preston Rosemont turned in a gem on the mound pitching all seven innings, and edged the Sectional Winner Santa Ynez 4-3. Agoura then won game 2 toppling Newbury Park 11-2. In the semifinal game, Agoura stunned West Hills, who were the Sectional Champions, 4-2 . Agoura was led by first time starter Colin MacDonald on the mound and great defense by Eric Corsello at shortstop and Danny Holcomb at second base. They turned two double plays. Catcher Alex Weiss threw out a runner at second and third on two West Hills stolen base attempts. Third baseman Noah Shearer doubled in two runs in the fifth to break the tie. MacDonald held West Hills to five hits over seven innings and had the West Hills hitters off balance for most of the day. In the final Agoura faced a strong Simi Valley team, loaded with pitchers and hitting. The nod went to Carson Caccamise to be the starting hurler for Agoura. Henry Baker and Dylan George each had two hits. Eric Corsello and Alex Weiss reached base six times and Preston Rosemont doubled for three RBIs. Rosemont also made a diving shoe-string catch in center field. Key hits by Dusty Trisler, Chad Shaver and Elijia Gugliuzza sparked a great fifth inning. Caccamise pitched brilliantly for the first five innings and Baker came in to relieve in the sixth. Simi didn't have any quit either, down 14-3, it scored six runs in the seventh before losing 14-9. Agoura is now heading for Zone. It has been a terrific ride and great coaching by Charlie Hirsh, Ben Yarin and Corey Kling. Jake Juels who played a key role in the team's success in District and Sectional was unable to play in the Regionals but will be ready to get back in action in Zone.
